Join us for our Harvest Lunch on Sunday!

Come and join us right after worship on Sunday for a delicious lunch - no need to bring anything but yourselves! If you can help with setup/cleanup, please sign up directly or email Melissa Freeman. Thank you, Melissa, for coordinating this great event for us!

Luke 14:12

We can bring grace, respect, and nutritious meals to Nashville’s hungry, homeless and working poor. Vine Street volunteers serve lunch with Luke 14:12 the fourth Monday of every month, and will do so again on Monday, November 25, at the Room in the Inn campus on 705 Drexel Street, from 11:15 a.m.-1:00 p.m. If you would like to be part of the team or have any questions, please contact Jeff Miller.

Hanging of the Greens

This coming Sunday is the last Sunday of the church year, and Advent is only days away. We will celebrate the season of expectation and hope on December 1 with our annual Hanging of the Greens service during the 10 a.m. worship service. In this service for all ages (we will have no separate Children’s worship), we will tell stories, sing carols and hymns, and decorate our Sanctuary with candles, wreaths and more in anticipation of Christmas and Christ’s coming. We light candles throughout the season to celebrate the light of Christ illuminating our darkness and to remember our calling to walk in the light of the Lord.

Poinsettia orders

We are taking orders for poinsettias to decorate the sanctuary for Christmas. The cost for each plant is $12.00. Purchases in honor or in memory of a loved one will be published in the bulletin on Sunday, December 22. Order forms are available on Sunday on the window sills in the sanctuary; you may also place your order online. Please do so by 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10.

Brass Band Concert

The Brass Band of Nashville, directed by Andy Corum, will present their last concert of the 2019 season on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Vine Street Christian Church, starting at 7PM. The band will present music ranging from selections from the Stan Kenton Big Band to Handel, and to Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride. This concert, like all of the Brass Band’s concerts, will be presented FREE and open to the public.
Vine Street Christian Church has hosted the Brass Band’s weekly rehearsals as well as their concerts for several years as part of our commitment to the arts and community use of the church building.

Staff appreciation

It's a Vine Street tradition to thank our staff with a financial gift at Christmastime. If you would like to participate, please mark a check memo or envelope with "Staff Appreciation" and drop it in the offering plate or return it to the office by Wednesday, December 4. You may also make an online contribution on our website (please also note "Staff Gift" when completing the short form). Any amount is welcome. Questions? See Melissa Freeman or Ed Cole.
