Children’s Musical Shares Fun, Timely Message

What’s created in the image of God?

Birds. Ponies. Trees.

Even the creepiest, crawliest of things.

And look around—each person you see is created, too, in the image of God! Amazing!

That was the message shared as the children’s musical In the Image closed the 2017 m&m camp at Vine Street Christian Church Sunday night. Some 19 boys and girls brought to living color and voice the good news of the Genesis creation story. The spirited audience was reminded, too, how when we all reduce, reuse and recycle items, we are caring well for God’s good creation.

The performance capped five days of camp activity around Vine Street Christian Church focused on building relationships and Christian faith through music and mission. Geared to rising first- through sixth-graders, this year’s m&m camp provided participants the opportunity to produce a musical through singing, acting and crafts; learn about faith through Bible storytelling and conversation; and share in mission by creating 615 Rocks and adopting the firefighters of nearby station 17.

We’re grateful to cast members Meda, Evelyn, Alexander, Skylar, Gia, Elise, Sarah, Kyla, Jack, Durham, Roman, Colin, Liam, Quinn, Dair, Calin, Maddie, Teak and McLean. T.J. & Katie McLaughlin were music directors. Hope Hodnett was the camp director. Camp counselors included Emily Crenshaw, Molly Lyons, Ellen Matthews, Sarah Matthews, Dominic Miller, Kara Reed and Elijah Wilson.

Special thanks goes to the congregation of Vine Street Christian Church for all the ways it supports m&m camp and the children’s ministries of this church!
