The busy season

Dear Friends,

I wanted to take a few minutes to talk a bit about the many things going on at Vine Street this month and this fall.

The last six weeks have been busy as our Building Renewal, Hospitality and Identity Task Force Groups have continued their work.  We are aiming for each to present a summary of their work at the October Board Meeting (October 26 at 6:30 p.m.)

Additionally our Endowment Task Force plans on inviting a representative from the Christian Church Foundation to assist in our continued look into our current endowment and how best to care for the church’s financial assets moving forward.

Finally, the Property Negotiations Task Force has received another revision of a proposal from M.B.A. and will be meeting to review. As soon as both parties are able to finalize a mutually agreeable proposal, there will be a called board meeting for the task force to present its recommendation.

The Implementation Team continues its work in assisting the task force groups as needed and will begin work, along with our Elders and Finance Committee, to assemble a Financial Futures Task Force to begin the important work of making plans for balancing our budget by 2018.

Outside of the work of our various task force groups, we have a great fellowship opportunity on Saturday, October 22. Join other Vine Streeters that evening for a Vanderbilt football game tailgate. Contact Greg Rumburg (greg@vinestreet.org) with questions and mark your calendar for an evening of football, fellowship and fun.

As well, we are already preparing our church and our hearts to host Room in the Inn November 6-11. Be on the lookout for opportunities to volunteer your time to this invaluable ministry. Our annual Harvest Luncheon is another event you’ll want to remember on November 13. Plan to share this meal of thanks and celebration.

Our young children are preparing and practicing each week for their Christmas musical, coming to a stage near you on Sunday, December 11. We are grateful to our music staff for their continued commitment to both leading in worship but also shaping the lives of our children.

And speaking of Christmas, there are openings to contribute to this year’s Advent Devotional. If you would like to contribute this year, please reach out to Greg Rumburg (greg@vinestreet.org).

Please reach out with any questions, concerns or ideas. We are each an essential part of the present and future of Vine Street — together we are Church, inside the walls and out in the community.
