In Thailand, a 13-year-old girl arrives at The New Life Center, seeking relief from the cruel conditions that have brought her here. Her life up to this point has been mostly about survival. Here, she meets others like her. Some of them are survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence, or human trafficking. Some have been forced to work when they wanted to go to school.
What will the future be like when she is empowered to share her gifts with her community and the world? Read more
The New Life Center is just one of many projects we support through Week of Compassion. We will receive the Week of Compassion special offering on February 16 and 23. Giving envelopes will be available in worship. You can also donate online.
Ministry Council Potluck
On Sunday, we will meet for lunch and conversations about our ministry (in January, we talked about outreach; this month, it's all about "inreach"). If you want to see what you signed up to bring for lunch (or if you haven't seen the sign-up sheet yet), just click here for the online version of our clipboard.

At Vine Street, we mark the beginning of Lent with a prayer service on Ash Wednesday, February 26, at 6:30 p.m. During this service of readings, prayers, and Taizé chants, participants are invited to let themselves be marked with the sign of the cross, either on their forehead or the back of their hand, as a reminder of our mortality and our hope in Christ. Let Thomas know if you would like to help lead this service as a reader.
Those who want to observe Lent by deepening their understanding of our faith, we invite to be part of a study group. Thomas will read Jesus According to the New Testament by James Dunn, and he invites anyone who would like to join him. Please let him know if you are interested. We have not scheduled a weekly time for the study group to allow for input from those who wish to participate.
