The clipboards are ready for our Sunday morning sign-up half-marathon! In preparation for Allison’s parental leave we will schedule folks to take care of the Kid’s Cart (pipe cleaners etc.) and the Candy Basket (yep, candy), or to serve as Youth Sponsors, Children’s Worship Storytellers, or Children’s Worship Greeters. See the full article at the bottom for more details about these great opportunities for cross-generational engagement!

Baby Ruari

Baby Ruari will be joining the Vine Street family later this fall. Please share the excitement with a baby shower for Allison and Jared following worship on Sunday, September 29. You can check out the baby registries at Target and Amazon. If you'd like to help with the event, please contact Linda Brandau or Laura Miller.

Vacation

Thomas Kleinert will be on vacation September 23 to October 6. He’s planning to paddle, hike and camp for several days in the Tennessee River Gorge. For pastoral concerns, please reach out to Allison Ruari.

Ministry Council

Come and join us on Sunday, September 22, following worship, for a unique combination of family programming and Ministry Council. This work will be foundational for our ministry over the next three years!

Clipboard details

In preparation for Allison’s parental leave and living into several of our key strategies involving worship, intergenerational relationships, and spiritual development of all ages, Thomas, Kalie, and Katie need you! There are a variety of opportunities to engage in the life of the church and build relationships across generations.

  • Kid’s Cart: Before service, get the cart from the hallway in the chapel and place it in the front of the sanctuary, doing a last minute supply check. After service every week, make sure that used materials are recycled/tossed, replenish resources (like paper and pipe cleaners) that might be low, update next week’s coloring page and activity bulletin, and return to the chapel hallway.

  • Candy Basket: After service, have the basket and listen to the kinds of things the children and youth learned in Sunday School, heard in service, or where they saw God. They can tell you as many things as they want, but they will only get a max of 3 pieces of candy.

  • Youth Sponsor: Youth Group is happening during family programming twice a month. In addition to getting lunch twice a month, the most important role of youth sponsor is to be present and get to know the youth. It’s a great role because our youth are top notch!

  • Children’s Worship Storyteller: After the children’s conversation but before we come to the table for the pastoral prayer and communion, the children have their own time to hear one of God’s stories and respond in a way that recognizes the imago dei in each of them. After the children return to the sanctuary, the story teller and greeter put the supplies back the storage area off of the chapel. Supplies and stories are provided.

  • Children’s Worship Greeter: Having an extra adult present helps the storyteller focus on the story, give extra attention to children who may need it so they don’t disturb others, and prepare the chapel space before and after children’s worship.

Thank you all for being the amazing Vine Street community and caring for one another while Allison is on parental leave!
