Aside from cheering on our favorite local hockey team, here's what's happening around Vine Street....
Ministry Planning Event Around the Corner
Vine Street participants of all ages are invited to this planning event in Fellowship Hall on its new date, Saturday, April 28. We begin at 9 a.m. (we’ll have bagels, coffee and juice for everybody) and expect to wrap up the event by noon.
We gather to make plans for the next program year, beginning July 1. All participants will split into nine working groups, each led by a current leader in the respective area:
Adult Education Membership Property
Communication Worship Youth
Children’s Ministry Outreach/Community Ministry Church Growth
Each group will follow a similar conversation outline:
• assess and evaluate programs and projects of the current year
• determine which to continue/discontinue
• share ideas for new programs and projects
• make initial plans by identifying leaders and dates
• review current budget proposal
• report back to the others
Please make plans to participate in this important Saturday morning event. We will have childcare for the little ones (please RSVP for childcare to Hope Hodnett (hope@vinestreet.org). We hope, too, teenagers will be able to join the youth table or any other table they are interested in.
Wisdom Literature Series Rolls On
A significant portion of the Old Testament writings are often referred to as Wisdom Literature. Through the end of May, our adult Christian education class is focusing on some of these writings. Join us as we grow in faith, knowledge and wisdom! We will gather at 9 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame
It’s diamonds and cathedrals for Vine Street friends on Sunday, April 29! That’s when we’ll head to the ballpark immediately after worship to watch the high-ranking Vanderbilt Commodores take on South Carolina. We’ll tailgate and have great seats for the contest—all for $5 per person (or $20 household max)! Now that’s a home run! Contact Jeff Miller to RSVP for this exciting Membership Committee event (jeff.miller@img.com).
All That Fanfare
The Brass Band of Nashville will present its first concert of the 2018 season at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10 at Vine Street. The program will consist of a wide variety of music, including: “Fanfare” (Jeremy S. Martin), “Liberty Bell March” (Sousa), “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” (Doris Akers/arr. Jay Dawson), “First Suite in E Flat” (Gustav Holst/arr. Sydney Herbert), “Be Still, My Soul” (arr. Kirkland) and “Procession of the Nobles” (Rimsky-Korsakov/arr. Turriciano). Would you like to volunteer as a greeter? Greeters help us to fulfill our mission to connect with neighbors and to open our doors to enriching community events. Contact Katie McLaughlin to sign up (katie@vinestreet.org).

Vine Street at the Movies will gather on Wednesday, May 2 to watch a classic French comedy Le Dîner de Cons (The Dinner Game), in which a group of wealthy elites compete to bring the biggest idiot to a regular dinner gathering. Rated PG-13. Show time is at 7 p.m. in the Bride’s Room.
May 5 Derby Sleepover Fast Approaching
Hey, kids! You are invited to derby day festivities at Vine Street. This derby sleepover event includes our own version of crazy races and games followed by pizza and a movie. These festivities for 1st-6th graders begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, and conclude after worship on Sunday. Watch for more details!
TNT Talent Show April 22
We’re looking for volunteers to put together a great program! The TNT Talent Show is happening this afternoon. While show time is at 2 p.m. we need folks before, during and after the event. Our TNT friends love to share their talents—how about you? What about providing treats, set up or clean up? Cheerful audience members are also needed! Contact Hope Hodnett to volunteer. The TNT Club is a community ministry for adults with developmental disabilities. It meets monthly for social gatherings, and volunteers of all ages are a necessity.
And finally, our 2018 stewardship campaign is underway, providing resources for our 2018-19 church ministry year. How is God calling you to share your diverse talents, time and resources?
