Vine Street at the Movies is celebrating spring! And in the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of finding a wife… through a Russian matchmaking service. Not what you expected? Don't worry, what happens in A Foreign Affair (rated PG-13) is definitely not what our main characters expect, either.
In the film (a.k.a. Two Brothers and a Bride), the matriarch of a family farm dies and her two remaining sons realize they cannot survive without a woman tending to the housework and cooking. This leads to an excursion into the very real world of Russian matchmaking (and the very real “A Foreign Affair” service). A very amusing and observant comedy-drama is the result. This hidden gem stars Tim Blake Nelson, Emily Mortimer and David Arquette.
