“I am very happy to report that my scan results show good progress with my treatment to the point where Dr. Gibson says I am, in his mind, in maintenance mode. I will still get treatments, but scaled down to hopefully calm the side effects.”

We offer our sympathy to the family of Denise Olmsted, 99, who died on October 1, 2020. Denise was the wife of Gilford Olmsted who served as Senior Minister at Vine Street 1978-1982. Rev. Virginia Dodge Fielder, a frequent visitor from Waynesboro First Christian Church, is having eye surgery to repair a macular hole on Thursday, October 1. Probability of success is high, but her recovery will be unpleasant and the outcome unknown for several weeks. She asks to be remembered in our prayers.
Monday prayers
Joe Keith has completed his twelfth chemo treatment. He’s waiting for a PET scan appointment and will be waiting about two weeks for the results.
John Dorris, Lyn Dorris’s dad, has not been feeling well recently; he has undergone several tests and is waiting for the results.
We continue to pray for Micah Snow and his family who are mourning the sudden and unexpected death of his dad, Randy Snow.
Ed Cole’s brother, Dennie Cole, is recovering from eye surgery.
Fay Delk asks for prayers for her friend Jo, whose son is dying of cancer.
Samuel Jenkins turned 53 on Sunday! Happy Birthday, Samuel!

Randy Halstead’s mom, Bobbie Halstead, passed away this morning on Thursday morning at age 89, with family at her bedside. Randy and Jackie were able to see her one last time before returning to Nashville on Wednesday night. Thank you for continuing to hold them and the whole family in prayer.
Ruth Skinner is feeling very lonely due to pandemic-related visitation restrictions. Talking with her on the phone can be difficult (her phone uses voice to text technology so she can read what people are saying, and it doesn’t always work well), but she loves hearing from you. Her address is

“Our mom Bobbie Halstead was moved to hospice today. She went in to the hospital last Tuesday with a high fever and possible infection. Things escalated quickly. Jackie Halstead and I are headed to Odessa to be with my brother and sister. Appreciate your prayers.”

Ted’s mother, Mackie Sue Parks, died this morning in Chattanooga at age 86. She suffered from Alzheimer’s and breathed her last while having breakfast with her husband, Buddy. Ted is on his way to Chattanooga to be with his dad and the rest of the family. Thank you for keeping them and all who love Mackie Sue in your prayers.
April Hefner
Greg Rumburg asks for our prayers for April. She is recovering very well from her hip surgery earlier this spring. However, she had surgery this morning for an unrelated matter. She's doing well this afternoon and is grateful for surrounding her with our prayers as she begins the recovery process.
Bob Register
Rachel Dixon’s brother, Bobby, will have bypass surgery later this week. He was scheduled for angioplasty this morning, but the blockages require the more aggressive and invasive approach. Thank you for keeping him and his family and friends in your prayers.

We remember in our prayers the family of Lester McNatt’s cousin Sarah Rees who died on Tuesday. She had been recuperating from colon surgery. A small family gathering to celebrate her life was being held on Saturday in Caney Fork and Sylva, NC.
Pat Cole
On Friday evening, Pat wasn’t feeling well and she noticed numbness in her left arm and leg. She and Ed went to the ER and learned that she had experienced an afib event and a TIA (“mini stroke”). She has fully recovered from the TIA, and there’s a good chance she will return home today or tomorrow. With Pat and Ed, we are grateful for this good outcome of a scary episode!
