Judi Sachs

Judi Sachs, who has been battling cancer for 4 1/2 years, asks for prayers for her upcoming surgery on Thursday, August 17th. Judi wants to express her gratitude for all of the love, prayers and support she has had through this time. She is especially grateful for the special people who are going to get her there and get her through it.

Judi Sachs

Judi Sachs asks for our prayers. Tests have shown that her cancer has not spread, but the tumor that had been shrinking has started growing again. We hope with her that the remaining treatment options will be effective. “I do have some options but right now it's pretty scary.”

Prayers for friends

Jeff Miller asks for prayers for his friend, Walt, who is undergoing treatment for stage IV pancreatic cancer.

Jane Short is recovering from hand surgery; she asks for prayers for her friend, Liz. who has recently been diagnosed with stage IV glioblastoma and has started treatments.

Thank you for adding your prayers to the layers of care with which families, friends, medical teams, and neighbors surround Walt and Liz, and thank you for your prayers for Jane’s full recovery.

Thursday prayers

Roger Bishop was briefly hospitalized for tests after experiencing severe dizziness. He is back at home, and we hope he will soon feel better.

Jack Wallace will have surgery on Saturday to repair a hernia. We pray for a successful procedure and a quick recovery.

Rachel Dixon’s aunt, Evelyn Coffey, died at the age of 95. Please pray for the whole family in their time of mourning and remembrance. The funeral will be on Saturday in Shelbyville, with Rachel presiding.

Covenant School

We continue to hold in prayer those who mourn the deaths of the children and adults who were killed at Covenant School. We also pray for the family of the shooter, for the police officers who used lethal violence to prevent further bloodshed, and for our political leaders. We pray for one another, for parents and children, students, teachers, counselors, and all whose work supports the work of teaching and learning. And we prayerfully consider what to ask of our political leaders and how to hold them accountable.

Our friends at Woodmont have established a special fund. Its purpose is to help provide counseling for the victims and several Woodmont children who were in that building. Clay Stauffer, Senior Minister at Woodmont, wrote, “I also want to support the Dieckhaus family. If you wish to make a donation to it, we are calling it the “Covenant School Tragedy Fund.” Again, it will go to support the families who have been impacted by this senseless tragedy.”

Ron Bomer

Carol Doidge’s brother, Ron Bomer, is grieving the death of his wife, Carol Janov. She had been very ill the last 5 years with liver and kidney cancer. Carol Doidge is flying to Vermont this weekend to be with Ron and their three adult sons. Thank you for remembering the family in your prayers.

Alex and Linda Brandau

Please keep Alex and Linda in your prayers. Alex was briefly hospitalized last week, and on Saturday, Linda fell and broke her wrist. Her face is heavily bruised, but thankfully she has no more serious facial injuries. She learned today, though, that she will require surgery on her wrist to make sure the bone heals properly and for her to have a better range of motion once it has healed. Linda will have a plate added to one of the bones in her wrist, probably on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Edna Burns

Please hold the Bethay/Keith family in prayer. Julia Keith’s sister, Edna Burns, died Friday, February 3 due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis. We hold Julia, Jude, Johanna and all who loved Edna in prayer as they grieve her death. Julia plans to travel to Olive Branch, MS this week to be with family and remember Edna.
