Jack Wallace

Please continue to keep Jack Wallace in your prayers. He has had preparatory surgery to have his injured bladder removed. We hope with him and Joanne that, while the road to full recovery will be long, he will finally be able to go out, travel, and do the things he enjoys doing. He appreciates your cards, emails, and text messages!

Rev. "Terri" Hord Owens

Our Regional Minister, Dr. Christal Williams, asks for our prayers:

Tennessee Disciples,

I am writing to invite you to join me, and our entire Regional Church Family in prayer for our General Minister and President, The Rev. Teresa Hord Owens. Rev. Lifetime Achievement Award - David Tarpley

“David J. Tarpley is being recognized as the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for his extraordinary body of work spanning 51 years as a staff attorney at legal aid. Mr. Tarpley is widely considered to be the consumer rights expert of Tennessee’s legal services community based on his legal expertise, integrity and passion. He's been described as the first attorney consulted when there is a need for complex legal analysis or thoughtful testimony about proposed consumer legislation, or sound advice about individual consumer protection cases. Mr. Tarpley has profoundly impacted Tennessee’s body of consumer law by drafting proposed legislation, submitting oral and written comments and appearing before legislative committees."

Congratulations, David!

Bryce Dixon

Rachel asks for our prayers for Bryce. She wrote, “Bryce is having surgery late this afternoon to repair a ruptured tendon in his right hand. He will not be able to use his primary hand and arm for six weeks. Please pray for him and for our neighbors in Waverly and Humphreys County who have lost so much in the flood.”

Prayer Requests for Jackie, Randy, Judi, and Eric

Jackie and Randy Halstead’s granddaughter, Jocelyn Jade, arrived Tuesday, August 3rd in Atlanta. They are both soaking up baby snuggles.

Judi Sachs reports an excellent update on her scans. The treatments are working!

Eric Hutton’s mother, Karen, fell yesterday and was found this morning. Eric is on the road now to be with her and fully assess what next steps are. We pray for wisdom and discernment for Eric and healing for Karen.

Thank you for your prayers and the ways that you care.

Halstead Grandbaby!

Randy and Jackie Halstead ask for prayers for a safe delivery as they await the birth of their first child (daughter Erin is the mother).

Randy was also exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID, despite everyone being vaccinated. While his initial test came back negative, he will take another at the end of the incubation period. We pray for Randy, that he’ll be able to meet his grandchild and that both Jackie and Randy will be able to offer presence and care for the newest member of their family in the days and weeks ahead.

Linda Parker

Please keep Linda Parker in your prayers. She was admitted to the hospital last night to monitor sodium levels and a possible infection. She anticipates being in the hospital one more night.

Additionally, she begins a new drug treatment next week, which means regular chemotherapy (again).
